Welcome

Imagine Home  is best known for our custom cat transport services.
We specialize in relay-style transports, with cats in carriers passed from one trusted volunteer driver to the next, from start to destination. Every Imagine Home transport is designed to meet that particular cat’s needs, while they travel safely and comfortably to their destination.

Below, you will find a selection of our current transport event sign-up sheets. Take a look, you may see one coming through your area!

KNAVE TRANSPORT
Huntsville, AL to Harrisburg, PA

Date: September 16, 2017

The year, is 2015. The place, is a rural shelter in Alabama. The what, is a very sick cat with a leg in need of amputation. The who, is a rescue called AFK Cat Rescue.

Knave's origins were unknown when he arrived at the shelter. What WAS known was that he needed help. He was ill, and though his leg had healed from a previous break, it had healed improperly. It would need to be amputated. Many cats in Knave's condition would have landed directly on the euthanasia list. But, Knave was very lucky, because AFK was on hand to save him.

Once he was healthy enough, his leg was amputated, and he went home to recuperate, with Alisa. Knave is so sweet that Alisa really wanted to give him a forever home, but Alisa is a foster. A rather successful and sought after foster, so her home usually has several cats at any given time. Sweet Knave is not a fan of a large clowder. So, Alisa found it in her heart, though it hurt a great deal, to find Knave a home more suited to him.

Margaret is a long time friend of AFK Cat Rescue. When her beloved TJ crossed the bridge, it left her Tillie all alone. This was the opportunity that Alisa had been watching for. Knave's forever home could not be found locally but, as we all know, a short 750 mile transport is just another Tuesday for the Imagine Home Nation. So how about it? Ready to be a part of this success story?

If you haven't already done so, and are helping to transport a cat, you MUST also be signed up on our database: www.imaginehome.org/wp/volunteer/driver-application-form/ (We wish to assure you that your private information is held in the strictest of confidence.) If we do not have your complete contact information no later than 72 hours before an event, we will be forced to use a Backup Transporter.

While the route itself is generally fixed, we leave it to our drivers to choose the best meeting place. This site will help you figure out what is in the area: www.exitexplorer.com/home.php. We do ask that you let your Transport Coordinator know your set location.

Your official run sheet will be sent out as soon as possible to all drivers on a transport; however, we know some drivers will wish to start planning meeting locations before it comes out.

When you sign up as a primary transporter, we encourage you to contact the driver of the leg on either side of you at your convenience to begin making plans. If you do not know that person, contact your transport coordinator who will be happy to put you in touch with each other.

Backup Transporters: until the day of the event, we will not know if you are needed. Additionally, emergencies CAN and MAY happen on the day of the event. We still expect you to be available if needed on Event Day.

Please remember when setting up meeting places and exchanging personal info that this event is posted on a public page. We ask, for your safety, that you do so in a private venue. Please be sure to exchange a vehicle description, and also pass this information to your Transport Coordinator.

*****PLEASE BE SURE TO READ OUR POLICY AND PROCEDURES FOR SAFE TRANSPORT*****

By signing up, you are agreeing that you have read and agree to the policies outlined on our Required Info for Transporters page: www.imaginehome.org/wp/volunteer/required-info-for-drivers/. You will want to be sure to have a "Transport Kit", containing bottled (or filtered) water, paper towels, pet safe wet wipes, and/or rags and towels for emergency cleanup needs. A more detail list of suggested supplies is also available on the Required Info for Transporters page.

What is Imagine Home?

Imagine Home assists with feline rescue, adoption, and transport by gathering and maintaining databases of contacts and information helpful to rescue.

Imagine Home came about by accident, or providence, ultimately through the tragedy of Jack the Cat. Click here for Jack’s story. We were brought together to form an organization to help rescued cats.

Our Immediate Vision: Assist adopters, fosters, transporters, and rescues in any way we can, through our volunteers and contacts. We encourage you to share your recommendations of individuals or groups to add to our network. You are the means for us to be able to do this.

We are working hard to keep our costs very low, however, there are some basic maintenance costs associated with operating our organization. If you’d like to make a tax-deductible donation, you may do so here:
